SUMMARY:Ukrainian Easter Egg Display in McKinney
DESCRIPTION:The Heard-Craig Center for the Arts in downtown McKinney is pro
 ud to display a collection of handmade Ukrainian Easter eggs\, known as py
 sanky\, during the month of April in honor of Easter and in support of the
  Ukrainian community.  The collections are on loan from Zoe Borozny and he
 r family\, from Valentina Bezny and from St. Sophia’s Ukrainian Church.  \
 nThe eggs are made in the batik wax-resist technique of repeated dyeing an
 d drawing with melted beeswax. The word “pysanka” stems from the verb pysa
 ty\, which means “to write.” Ukrainian families make pysanky as part of th
 eir Lenten traditions. Each pysanka is unique and has special meaning. Tra
 ditionally\, pysanky were made in preparation for the Easter celebration\,
  but they are also given as gifts.   \nThe collections will be displayed f
 rom April 11\, 2022 through April 29\, 2022 in a FREE exhibit to support U
 krainian refugees.   Although the exhibit is free\, 100% of donations will
  be given to St. Sophia's Church to support refugees.  We encourage everyo
