Register early to run in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of McKinney’s Fight Back 5K and help fight cancer!
Get your running and walking shoes on and register early for the third annual Fight Back 5K fund-raising event that helps the American Cancer Society fight cancer and enriches cancer survivors’ lives.
Early pre-registration is currently on-going online at https://secure.getmeregistered.com/get_information.php?event_id=9912 or go to www.getmeregistered.com and search for Fight Back 5K from now through Feb. 28. Participants may walk or run in the Fight Back 5K, which will be held at 9 a.m. Sat., March 22 at Stonebridge United Methodist Church located at 1800 S. Stonebridge Dr. in McKinney. The online pre-registration fee is $25. That fee will increase to $30 for registration after Feb. 28 through March 21. Race day on-site registration will be $35.
The event is presented by the 2014 ACS Relay For Life of McKinney team Hope Bleeds Purple, in honor of the Relay For Life theme color, purple. Sherry Jeffcoat, 2013 ACS Relay For Life of McKinney co-chair and co-team captain for the Hope Bleeds Purple Relay For Life team said, “Fight Back 5K is a fund-raising event created by Alesha Crowell, Amy Feagin and myself as a way to show the community of McKinney what Relay For Life is. Are there ever too many events to participate in that could help stop cancer from ever hurting anyone we love again?,”

In participating in Fight Back 5K, you are making a personal commitment to save lives by taking up the fight against cancer, Jeffcoat said. “By taking action, people are personally taking steps to save lives and fight back against a disease that takes too much. The 5K is fun, challenging and certified. It will be chip timed by Race Chip Timing. The net proceeds from Fight Back 5K will benefit the American Cancer Society. Register today and support someone you know and love who has or is experiencing this terrible disease.”

Hope Bleeds Purple is one of hundreds of teams that will participate in the 2014 ACS Relay For Life of McKinney annual fund-raising event, which collects money to help the ACS research a cure for all types of cancer. It will be held 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Fri., April 25 at the Ballfields at Craig Ranch, 6151 Alma Road in McKinney.
The 2014 Relay For Life will feature popular events that have accompanied the event for more than a decade, including the Cancer Survivor Walk; the Luminaria event, where candle lit bags are lined along the track during a moment of silence to honors those who’ve lost their battle with cancer; the Mr. Relay Walk; entertainment; games; and activities for kids. The event will also include vendor and sponsor tables with information from the various businesses and organizations that sponsor the event to help make it such as successful fund-raiser.
