Love Your Neighbor as Yourself

goandbe_1 - Go and Be

Loving our neighbors is identified by Christ as the commandment second only to loving God himself. A tangible way of doing this has emerged in our own community. While several list McKinney as one of the best places to live in all of America, that doesn’t mean there aren’t many in our community living in substandard housing in less than desirable neighborhoods.

That's why 3e Partnering churches are adding their numbers to the City of McKinney's "Together We Serve" initiative in east McKinney. The work has already started this year, and this Saturday is the next opportunity to grab a paint brush, a shovel or a rake and help out.

“This is a multi-year project, so it’s going to take a while,” 3e McKinney Director Larry Robinson told Star Newspapers. “This is really helping revitalize a neighborhood where many just don’t have the resources to do it.”

Through a partnership between the city, Volunteer McKinney, North Collin County Habitat for Humanity (NCCHFH) and 3e McKinney, volunteers and staff are helping residents restore inside, outside and around their homes.

Volunteers of all ages are involved in doing exterior house painting, light landscaping, minor remodeling projects, tree trimming, weed-eating and general clean-up, among other things.

Please plan to be a part of this special opportunity to serve by registering yourself, your family or your group online. For more information, please contact Ken Stoneking, organizer, at kstoneking@christfellowshiphome.com or at 214.675.9323.

"There's a God in heaven who loves the people of this community, and they are demonstrating that through humble acts of service. Let’s join together as families, groups and as a God's family to serve our local community with outrageous service, bringing a little bit of heaven to earth," said Rafe Wright, one of the organizers with Christ Fellowship church in McKinney. "The Church has left the building."
