McKINNEY – Christ Fellowship will break ground on a 41,600-square-foot children’s building renovation and expansion, and a 10,000-square-foot additional worship center this Sunday, Dec. 4. The community is invited to attend the celebrations immediately after both the 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. services.

Every Sunday, Christ Fellowship serves approximately 2,100 people, and a third of them are children ages 11 and under. During the week, Promiseland Preschool serves 180 children, and Student Ministries hosts roughly 200 students on Wednesday nights.

We have long since outgrown our space for the people God is bringing – especially children and students,” said Senior Pastor Bruce B. Miller. “We live in one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. This building project will allow us to serve families with a life-giving church that meets their needs.”

The plans include a dedicated, secure space for children with state of the art technology to assist with learning and worship. The plans even include a slide from the top floor to the bottom floor. The playground will be doubled in size.

“The playground will be community friendly – a great place to hang out for young children and families,” said Children’s Pastor David Klippert-Rowe. “At Christ Fellowship, children and families are a priority and this new building is a reflection of that.”

Included in the plans is a Worship Center to host a growing Spanish service on Sundays. “As the Spanish-speaking population in our community continues to grow, Christ Fellowship is committed to effectively help people find and follow Christ in their heart language,” Miller said.

Midweek the worship center will provide a dynamic space for student ministries. “The teenage years are the most formative years. This is the time students begin to discover their own identities and all that God has for them,” Miller said. “It is crucial to invest in our young people.”
