Many people have never heard of sex trafficking, or if they have, they think of it as an international issue.  In reality, over 100,000 children in the U.S. are forced into sex trafficking each year, with Texas being ranked number two.  The Department of Justice states that the I-10 corridor is the number one route for trafficking, with Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio known as the Texas triangle for human trafficking.

In recognition of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, Stonebridge United Methodist Church and Stephanie Henry-Ricchi, Founder of Activism for Empowerment, have partnered to bring “In Plain Sight” to McKinney. This inspiring documentary features six modern-day abolitionists as they fight sex trafficking in the U.S. The screening will be held January 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the McKinney Performing Arts Center.  Proceeds from this event will benefit Traffick911.

With over 1,500 at risk homeless children in McKinney alone and nearly 3,000 across Collin County, the importance of raising awareness and protecting children not only in our community, but ultimately across the United States is paramount. Please make plans to attend and become part of the solution.
