 life while learning about the history and basics of wetland ecology. After
  a safety and canoeing introduction\, spend about 40 minutes on a guided t
 rail around the Heard wetlands\, followed by free paddle time to explore o
 n your own. \n No experience is necessary for any of the paddle programs.
  All participants will be given an introduction to canoeing that includes

 d along its 350 acre natural park with miles of wooded riverfront trails.
  \nCheck in and festivities begin at 8:00 AM \, and the chip timed 5K race
  starts at 9:00 AM . Registration is $30 and includes race entry\, an even
 t t shirt\, race bib\, and a finisher medal. \nThis family friendly event
  welcomes strollers \, and a special prize will be awarded to the first pl
 ace stroller strider . Cash prizes will be awarded to the Top Overall Male
  and Female finishers (1st $200\, 2nd $100\, 3rd $50)\, plus a $50 prize f
 or the top stroller strider. Awards will also be given to the top male and
  female runners in multiple age groups. The overall male and female winner
 s will also receive a free pair of running shoes valued at $200 . The awar
