On Saturday, October 26th, an anticipated 600 volunteers will be donating their time and talents to 17 different service projects across the City of McKinney for Volunteer McKinney’s annual Make A Difference Day.

Edie Heinicke, Volunteer McKinney’s Executive Director, is excited to help volunteers connect their passion with their community.  “This event has always been exciting because of the number of people who participate.  Children, families, co-workers, members of McKinney’s City Council, restaurants and businesses come together for this fun day of giving back to McKinney.”

Participating non-profits include: Blue Caboose Children’s Fund, Especially Needed, Holy Family School, Hope Clinic of McKinney, City of McKinney Neighborhood Services, Streetside Showers, Heard-Craig Center for the Arts, Ovation Academy of Performing Arts, Hugs Café, Teens for the Cure, Collin County History Museum, Open Horizons Life Enrichment Center, Millhouse Foundation, Habitat of Collin County, and Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney.

Businesses, churches, scout troops, service groups, neighborhoods, families and individuals are all encouraged to sign-up to volunteer on this special day. Visit our website at for information on how to sign up for a project.

After a fun morning of volunteering, participants are eligible for 50% off their meal at one of six restaurants: Hugs Café, EJ Wills, Nom-Nom’s Mexican Grill, Raising Cane’s, Brother’s Pizza, and One and Only Burgers and Fries.

Sponsors include The McKinney Community Development Corporation, the City of McKinney, 1st United Bank, Baylor Scott and White.
