MCA's Gabby Gordon Finishes First in Texas InVestWrite Competition, and Seventh in the Nation

McKinney Christian Academy seventh grader Gabby Gordon was recently presented with a trophy and gift check for finishing first in the State InVestWrite competition.  The competition is held annually by The SIFMA Foundation.  SIFMA Foundation is an educational non-profit committed to helping young people become financially capable, and to expand their understanding of the benefits of global capital markets.  The InVestWrite competition challenges 4th-12th grade students to analyze virtual stock stocks, bonds, and mutual funds and recommend portfolio allocations.  Each year nearly 600,000 students nationwide compete in The Stock Market Game™ program.  While creating a top performing $100,000 portfolio in The Stock Market Game™ program is difficult, creating a top performing essay in the competition is even harder.  Almost 9,000 students wrote essays in the fall semester, and almost 2,000 industry professionals served as volunteer judges in the scoring process.

Gabby Gordon finished first in the state competition, and finished seventh in the nation.  She stated in her essay "One of the most important processes of keeping a healthy financial state is by using diversification.  During the Stock Market game my team and I learned how important it was to be diverse when buying and selling stocks."

Gabby's list of prizes included a trophy, $100 AMEX gift check, medal, banner for the school, and an invitation to the annual awards ceremony.   MCA is very proud of Gabby and her performance in the InVestWrite competition.  The outstanding teachers at McKinney Christian Academy are also to be commended.  This is the second year in a row that MCA has placed first in the competition.  MCA educator Edna Pajela has led this program for several years, and has done a remarkable job.
