he McKinney Finance Department was presented the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. Finance staff has earned this award, the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, for 29 consecutive years.
In order to be awarded the Certificate of Achievement, a government unit must publish a readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report with contents that conform to program standards, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the financial story. The report must fulfill accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.
