By now you know that we here at Solutions Automotive are really big on maintaining your vehicle! Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance! That’s the key! We hate to see people wait until they need costly repairs. It’s like how you could have prevented a bad toothache if you had flossed and brushed and seen your dentist regularly.

So we want to give you three simple tips on how you can take better care of your vehicle, no matter what you drive!

1. Fill ‘er up! When you get gas, fill your tank all the way to the top. We know this is sometimes easier said than done. Sometimes you only have enough to buy enough gas to get you where you're going. We understand that. However, did you know that it’s actually better for your vehicle to fill the gas tank all the way up? When you have a low amount of gas in your tank your fuel pump can suck in contaminants at the bottom of your tank. This is bad for your fuel pump, and will cause your car to run rough.

So while it might sometimes be necessary to just put in $5 or $10 worth of gas, if you do it all the time you’re slowly killing your vehicle.

2. Get the oil changed! You’ve heard this from us many, many times before. Make sure you get your oil changed regularly. Don’t go over the mileage. Plus, when you bring your vehicle to us for an oil change we do a 25-point inspection on your car. We don’t do this to try to sell you on other services. But we will always look over your car and let you know if we find anything we think you should know about, or anything that is unsafe. We don’t get you in for an oil change and then try to sell you everything under the sun. That's not how we do it here! And if you’re a customer of ours you already know that. But we will always look over your vehicle and let you know if we see anything that needs attention, let you know what kinds of repairs might be coming up in the future, or if there is anything unsafe you need to know about.

But please, get that oil changed every 3,000-5,000 miles!

3. Go for the car wash! This one might come as a shock to you, but—wash your car! Whenever you wash your vehicle it actually helps to cut down on wind drag on your car. That’s not a myth! So keep your car clean under the hood, wipe off any dirt or leaves that might collect under the wiper cowling, and wash the exterior of your car. If you find some oil residue off the motor that might alert you to some issues that might be present.  You might find clues to oil leaks or coolant leaks. You might even find rodents under the hood, and they can cause a lot of damage!

So be sure that you’re regularly washing your vehicle! It helps your car—and it looks good!

So there are three easy ways you can proactively take care of your vehicle so that it keeps running longer and longer and longer safely!
