Coordinated Closures For U.S. 75 Expansion Project Scheduled For Weekend of April 20-22

The City of McKinney has reported that construction will take place regarding the U.S. 75 Expansion Project this weekend (April 20-22).  Coordinated closures will begin on Friday, April 20 and last through the morning of Sunday, April 22.

From the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

Weather permitting, there will be a coordinated closure of mainlanes and frontage roads on U.S. 75 each night beginning Friday, April 20, 2012 through Sunday morning.

  • Friday, April 20: All southbound mainlanes at Eldorado Parkway will be closed from  9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday morning. The bridge over the mainlanes will be demolished first then the operation will open mainlanes and close the frontage road to demolish the bridge over the frontage road.
  • April 20 Detour: While the mainlanes are closed, drivers will exit to the frontage road north of Eldorado Parkway and re-enter the highway at the next entrance. While the frontage road is closed, drivers headed southbound on the U.S. 75 frontage road will turn right onto Craig Drive, left onto Eldorado Parkway and right back onto the frontage road.
  • Saturday, April 21: All northbound mainlanes at Eldorado Parkway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday morning. This is the same operation phasing as above only on the northbound side.
  • April 21 Detour: While the mainlanes are closed drivers will exit to the frontage road south of Eldorado Parkway and re-enter the highway at the next entrance. While the frontage road is closed, drivers headed northbound on the frontage road will turn right onto Marketplace Drive, left on Medical Center Drive to Eldorado Parkway then turn left back onto the frontage road.

This is part of the U.S. 75 reconstruction project from Spur 399 (SH 121) and U.S. 380. W.W. Webber, LLC  is the contractor on the $106 million project to add two additional mainlanes in each direction.

Message boards have been placed in advance to notify drivers of the closures.

TxDOT would like to thank area drivers for their patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
