Fall is coming, so we have a few fall roof maintenance tips for you! Fall is the time that you want to have your roofs walked and checked to make sure that everything’s sealed up, and that your gutters are clean and your trees are trimmed. Here are the main things to do to get your roof ready for fall:

1. Check your gutters. First off, you want to have your roof and gutters checked. Gutters can build up with leaves and debris causing backflow issues in, which in turn can cause leaking into your home. So first and foremost, get your gutters checked and make sure they are clear of debris.

2. Check your trees. Secondly, check the perimeter for trees that are hanging too low or over the roof. Trees and branches that are hanging over the roof can cause damage to shingles when it’s windy. Plus, squirrels and raccoons use those trees to get on the roof and start eating at the components of your roof, causing damage. So it’s very important to keep the trees trimmed away from the roof.

3. Check your roof. Look for debris hanging out in valleys. A lot of times we’ll find sticks and shrubs that build up on the valleys. If these sit too long they can cause algae growth, and damage to the shingles themselves, so we make sure the valleys are clear of any sitting debris. You also have make sure your pipes and flashings are all sealed up, and make sure the fascia boards are clear from animal damage (from being chewed on).

We have a roof tune-up service that covers all these things. We clean the gutters, seal up the roof, and replace up to one bundle of shingles, which in turn will solve all of your fall maintenance issues! Give us a call at 972-332-1766 and we will be happy to help you out with your fall roof tune-up.
