In lieu of the fourth graders preparations for the STARR testing that will occur at the end of this month, parents at Walker Elementary transformed the fourth grade hallway into a wonderland to inspire students to think creatively.

This week at Walker Elementary, Sonja Hurd, along with other creative fourth grade parents, transformed the fourth grade hallway into Disney's Alice in Wonderland.  The result: unbelievable.

Before you walk into the hallway, you see cut-outs of Alice herself in a window, introducing the theme.  As the the doors open, the illusion of falling into the rabbit hole is present and little is left to your imagination as Sonja and her team has thought of everything to portray in the hole.

The first creative room you come to is the Big Room.  Karla Chunn and her team brought the huge table, key and sweets box to life.  As you travel down the hole, there are huge clocks, movie quotes and character cut-outs to give the feel of actually being in the movie.  Then, you come to the Queen's Courtyard, in which Jennifer Thompson and her team portray the Card Soldiers and the garden with murals, real flowers, a draw bridge and a Queen's chair.

Traveling further down the hole you come to the Tea Party.  This team transformed an inside room to look like the party is outdoors, with a huge tree, colorful lanterns, cobblestones and a long, ornate table and chairs to complete the scene.  In addition, there is a mushroom section and caterpillar to check out.  The entire hallway is a must-see.

Walker has a great bunch of creative parents who are willing to do this for their child. Congratulations, Walker Elementary, for having such connected and willing parents.
