Mardi Gras is coming up soon, and to celebrate, the City of McKinney is hosting the 10th Annual Krewe of Barkus Mardi Gras Dog Parade and Festival on Sunday, Feb. 19.  This year's theme is "All American Barkus," and is sure to be a fun event for the community and its canine companions.

McKinney's answer to the New Orleans Mystic Krewe of Barkus, this year's event will feature a parade, festivities and shopping in downtown's Mitchell Park.  Activities will begin at 12:30 p.m., with the parade beginning promptly at 2 p.m.

The event will host a costume contest, and dog owners are encouraged to dress themselves and their dogs according to the "All American Barkus" theme and join in on the activities.  Kids are also welcome to participate in the parade.
