According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than half of the 7 million sports- and recreation-related injuries that occur each year are sustained by youth as young as 5 years old. The National Youth Sports Safety Foundation estimates that more than 3 million teeth will be knocked out in youth sporting activities.

Mouth guards have been shown to prevent or decrease injury to teeth and jaws; preventing injury is much less expensive than treating it.  Dr. Glenn Cohen, is providing free custom mouth guards to protect young athletes from preventable injuries.  He is a board certified orthodontist and has practiced in McKinney for 5 years.  His website is

Dr. Glenn Cohen, is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), which has 18,000 members in the United States, Canada and abroad.  Orthodontists are uniquely qualified specialists who correct improperly aligned teeth and jaws (bad bites).  After graduating from dental school, orthodontists go on for an additional two-to-three years of education in orthodontics at an accredited orthodontic residency program.  Only those who have successfully completed this level of formal education may call themselves “orthodontists,” and only orthodontists are admitted as members of the AAO.
