(McKinney, TX) July 1 – Registration is now open for the third annual Christmas In July 1M/5K Fun Run sponsored by Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney.  The family-friendly run/walk will be held on Saturday, July 21 beginning at 7 a.m. in the church parking lot.  Entry fee proceeds and canned food donations will benefit The Community Food Pantry of McKinney and the Collin County Committee On Aging.  

Since it’s start in 2010, the Christmas in July Fun Run has collected just over $4,900 to purchase Harvest Boxes for the Meals on Wheels program and approximately 1,000 cans of food for the Community Food Pantry.   

“In the summer months, community giving and involvement declines due to the scorching heat and vacationing schedules,” says Rev. David Lessner, Associate Pastor. “At Christmas In July, our aim is to keep the community giving all year round, not just at Christmastime.” 

For this year’s run, an estimated 300 runners are expected to participate either by running the race, walking the course or just coming out to support the event. Participants and supporters will enjoy snow cones, music, massages, health screenings, activities and more.
