Summer is right around the corner, which means gas prices are probably going up.  This is something we cannot control as drivers, but we can control our fuel efficiency.  Here are some tips on how to make your vehicle run smoother and save money on gas in the process.

1. Tires: One of the easist and cheapest things we can do to help with fuel efficiency is check our tire pressure routinely.  When we keep our tires inflated to the right pressure, we are safer and our tires will last longer too.

2. Idling too long: Idling (sitting at stop lights etc.) is terrible for our engines.  One place we see unnecessary idling is at drive thru restaurants and coffee shops. Waiting in those long lines is brutal for our vehicles and affects our gas mileage.  It may not be what people want to hear, but the best solution is to park and go inside. Hey, sometimes it's faster!

3. Maintenance: Most people tend to be reactive instead of proactive when it comes to taking care of their vehicles. It's just human nature.  That being said, to save money on gas in the long run, it's best to keep up with routine maintenance such as oil changes, filters, and fluids.  Also, be sure to keep up mileage milestone checkup such as 30,000 miles etc.

With more and more people trying to save as much money as possible, every little bit helps.  Our gas bills are never going to fully go away, but we can take proactive steps with our vehicles to help save money on gas and make increase fuel efficiency.  Hope these tips help you and please let us know if we can help in any way.  Our shop, Solutions Automotive, is located a 1513 S.
