ST. ANDREW METHODIST CHURCH PRESENTS THE WORLD-RENOWNED DOVER QUARTET

Two-Time GRAMMY®-Nominated Ensemble Named One of the Greatest String Quartets of the Last 100 Years

St. Andrew Methodist Church will present the internationally acclaimed Dover Quartet for an afternoon concert on Sunday, March 22, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Hasley Chapel on the St. Andrew campus, 5801 W. Plano Parkway.

A two-time GRAMMY® nominee, the Dover Quartet was named one of the greatest string quartets of the last 100 years by BBC Music Magazine in 2021. Among the most sought-after chamber ensembles performing today, the quartet is celebrated worldwide for its exceptional technical precision and deeply expressive musicianship.

The event will include an interactive pre-concert conversation with the musicians, followed by a performance featuring works by Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, and Grażyna Bacewicz. The Dover Quartet is composed of Joel Link and Bryan Lee, violins; Julianne Lee, viola; and Camden Shaw, cello.

“We are excited to welcome the community to an afternoon with the Dover Quartet, which represents the highest level of chamber music artistry,” said Taylor Davis, creative director of traditional music and worship at St. Andrew. “Whether you’re a longtime classical music lover or hearing a string quartet live for the first time, you will be drawn into their expressive musicianship and ability to connect with the audience – a rare and meaningful experience.”

Formed in 2008 at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the Dover Quartet performs more than 100 concerts annually and rose to international prominence in 2013 after a historic sweep of all prizes at the Banff International String Quartet Competition. All four musicians are graduates of the Curtis Institute and currently serve as faculty ensemble-in-residence. The quartet has received numerous additional honors, including grand and first prizes at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, prizes at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Chamber Music America’s Cleveland Quartet Award, and Lincoln Center’s Hunt Family Award.

Tickets are $35, with $20 student tickets available, and include access to the pre-concert conversation, which will take place from 2 to 2:45 p.m. During this time, the musicians will share insights into their personal journeys and careers and respond to audience questions.
