Senior Garrett Carson Takes 100 Yd Butterfly Senior Garrett Carson won the 100 yard butterfly to help the Bulldogs defeat District 10 opponent Lovejoy High School 119-64

The McKinney North High School boys swim team is making a big splash in North Texas.

Lead by seniors Garrett Carson, Zach Griffin, Tycho Huston, Michael Mattei and junior Evan Carpenter, the aqua dawgs are now 6-0 in District 10 action defeating their opponents by an average of 41 points.

Their experience, talent, and hard work in and out of the pool has contributed greatly to their success. These five young men currently hold nine of the thirteen individual and relay records for McKinney North. Carson and Griffin both have three individual records while Mattei has claimed one. Griffin and Mattei were part of the 2013 state qualifying medley relay team while Carson, in his second year ompeting as a bulldog, qualified for the state meet in both the 200 yd IM and the 100 yd butterfly last year.

With this leadership and experience, Coach Brenda Files states, “The boys team is looking solid."

This leadership and experience will be tested later in the season as they face many of the state’s top swimmers at the TISCA Invitational
in December and in District and Regional action in January.

Our lady bulldogs are struggling this season but hold many bright spots, including senior Sarah Linnabary, who broke a six year old school record in the 500 yard freestyle by five seconds. “The girls continue to get faster individually. We are just small in participants,” says Files.

Both teams face McKinney Boyd High School next Tuesday, November 4th at the McKinney High School Natatorium.
