McKinney Christian Academy held a parenting forum on the topic of Internet Safety and Cybercrimes November 17th.  Detective Chris Meehan from the Collin County Sherriff's Office and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force led discussion on understanding new technologies and social media, speaking to children about online threats, and best practices for online safety.  Detective Meehan followed up the parenting seminar by speaking to the MCA Upper School students on November 19th.  He focused on teaching students to be safe in a digital world, and explained the importance of maintaining privacy with all online social media sites.  Cyber bullying and consequences for both victim and abuser were also discussed.  Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County and McKinne Christian Academy partnered to present the educational forum.
