The St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry announced today that it is changing the format for its job search curriculum to accommodate the evolving needs of job seekers.  Beginning on Saturday, October 16, the job search workshops will be held quarterly – instead of weekly - in an all-day Saturday setting.  The new quarterly job search curriculum will be held from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM on the campus of St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Avenue, in Allen.

The content for the new job search curriculum will be based on Jack Bick’s latest career development book, The Champion Way 2.0.  Mr. Bick, the former publisher of the Dallas Business Journal and the Collin County Business Press, also created the Be Mission Critical: Own Your Dream Career program that served as the foundation for the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry’s job search curriculum since 2018.

The day-long workshop will have four main sections, called Experiences; two Experiences will be presented in the morning and two Experiences will be presented in the afternoon:

  • Experience One – Know Yourself
  • Experience Two – Know Your Audience
  • Experience Three – Engage the Marketplace
  • Experience Four – Sell and Close the Deal

Each Experience will have its own “show & tell” session with feedback and Qs&As.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has changed all aspects of our lives, especially the ways in which we earn our livings” said Greg Mechler, Career Alliance volunteer coordinator.  “We determined that our format needed to be changed to meet the evolving needs of today’s job seekers, many of whom are seeking to not only change jobs but career fields as well.  Moreover, weekly meetings proved to not to be as effective as quarterly all-day workshops which enable job seekers to see the entire program at once.”

Attendance at these quarterly all-day Saturday job search workshops is open to all people of any faith, ethnicity, age, etc.  Everyone is welcome!
