S.H.I.N.E. On! Program at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney

Focuses on health and wellness for cancer patients and survivors

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney offers a wellness program for cancer patients and survivors on their journey toward survivorship. This highly individualized program includes yoga, Pilates, and nutrition classes and is designed to help boost the healing process and enrich lives while the participants are still in treatment. The S.H.I.N.E. On! Program is free and open to the McKinney community.

Components of the program include: emotional support, nutritional support, cooking demonstrations, and fitness/exercise programs. The S.H. I. N. E. acronym stands for Strength, Hope, Inspiration, Nutrition, and Exercise.

“The goal for our cancer team was to create a program where the patient is close to home, comfortable and surrounded by like individuals,” says Erin Blair, Director of Oncology Services at Baylor Scott & White – McKinney. “S.H.I.N.E. On! allows patients to move through various phases of the program to reach the end goal of hard wiring exercise and wellness into their lives.”

Baylor Scott & White – McKinney welcomes any cancer patient and survivor regardless of where they received treatment. Each patient may bring one caregiver; participants must be 18 or older.

Baylor Scott & White Health experts, including registered dietitians, fitness specialists, nurses and others, lead the programs. Yoga and Pilates classes are offered weekly along with quarterly nutrition classes.
