The City of McKinney Environmental Education & Community Outreach and Storm Water Management programs will host the Trinity Trash Bash on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Trinity Trash Bash provides an opportunity for McKinney residents to clean up the city by collecting litter, especially along waterways. Volunteers are invited to participate in teams. Homeowners associations, church groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, families and individuals are encouraged to join the fun. Students also can earn community service hours. The Storm Water Management department has identified locations throughout the city to clean up. 

Teams of volunteers can register online, and liability forms that can be downloaded on the city website are required of all participants. There are two check-in locations—Fire Station #5 at 6600 Virginia Pkwy., and Old Settler’s Park at 1201 E. Louisiana Street.

As a member of T.R.E.E.S. (Trinity River Environmental Education Society), the City of McKinney is committed to preserving and protecting the Trinity River Watershed through education, awareness and active engagement.

Official T.R.E.E.S. Trinity Trash Bash patches will be available for participating Boy Scouts andGirl Scouts, and all registered participants will receive a t-shirt. After picking up litter for two hours, the volunteers are treated to a celebration lunch at Old Settler’s Park with music and prizes.
