Registration is ongoing for anyone who would like to sell items or volunteer for the McKinney Ladies Association’s community-wide Spring Yard Sale, which raises scholarship funds for the children of McKinney’s police officers, firefighters and EMTs.

“In the last week, we have all been reminded how very crucial our first responders are in every community,” said MLA President Tracy Rath. “With the incidents in Boston and West, we have watched police, firefighters, EMTs and other first responders put themselves in harm’s way to protect lives and property and care for the critically injured.”

“The scholarships we award to the children of McKinney’s first responders are a small way to show our community’s appreciation and say thank you to the brave men and women who serve us. We always look forward to our annual Spring Yard Sale because the proceeds go to such a great cause.”

The Spring Yard Sale is scheduled for 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4 in the parking lot at Stonebridge United Methodist Church, 1800 S. Stonebridge Drive in McKinney. To participate, members of the community may reserve a space to sell items (except concessions) by contacting coordinator Connie Hollstein-Drexel by email at cjhollstein@aol.com or by going online to www.mckinneyladies.org. The cost to reserve one of the 126 available spaces is $45. Sellers’ reservations must be received by April 29.

MLA also welcomes volunteers during the event. If you’d like to sign up to help, please go online to www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0C4CABAB2D6-mckinney1 to register as a volunteer.

Shoppers are welcome May 4, and the sale will occur rain or shine. An estimated 126 sellers will be on hand to offer great bargains. Shoppers are asked to donate $1 in order to browse and shop. Be sure to bring your friends and join MLA for a great morning of bargain-hunting and friendship on May 4.
