McKinney Fire Department
Your Resource for Life Safety Programs and Information
The McKinney Fire Department offers a variety of community service and educational programs for residents of all ages, as well as for business and civic organizations. We partner with MISD to teach safety messaging in all elementary grades; we partner with a local non-profit to install smoke alarms and change batteries in the homes of seniors; we offer a Citizens Fire Academy each spring; we offer home safety visits and programs on evacuation planning, and fire extinguisher use to name only a few...Most programs can be adapted for your group, organization or business. In addition, we provide speakers for service clubs, church groups, homeowner's associations, etc...
MFD would like to extend the offer to attend one of your monthly HOA meetings, a Board of Directors meeting, your service club meeting or any other venue that would be appropriate to highlight our services and educate the community.
Of particular interest may be a presentation by Fire Chief Danny Kistner entitled, The Future of the Fire Service. The fire service is a dynamic and fast-changing “business.” The majority of calls for professional fire departments of the 21st Century are emergency medical services. With government reform to our nation’s health care system, we anticipate expanding roles for first responders. Firefighter/paramedics will likely move into the role of advanced care services – perhaps immunizations, liaisons for chronic care patients to other services, etc. Chief Kistner welcomes the opportunity to offer information on the changing roles anticipated for not only the McKinney Fire Department; but, for first responders nationwide and to answer your questions.
While our primary business will always be emergency services, we offer a variety of programs and presentations to educate and inform our community. Our objective is to prevent the emergency from ever happening!
The McKinney Fire Department is here to serve McKinney in a variety of roles – not just in the case of an emergency. If you'd like to schedule a presentation, please email sdurham@mckinneytexas.org or call 972-547-2893. Please visit www.mckinneyfire.org for additional information on all of our services.
Yours in fire and life safety,
