With McKinney ISD middle and high school students turning their attention toward 2013-2014 registration, each of the three McKinney high schools are pulling out all the stops with annual Showcase Extravaganza events aimed at providing students with information on every imaginable course and activity available to them next year.

McKinney High School is offering the first “Pre-Showcase” Career and Technical Education Tour for 8th graders who will attend McKinney High School next year.

The McKinney High School Showcase Extravaganza, to be held Wednesday, January 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., provides parents and students with fun and informative opportunities to visit course and activity displays presented by teachers and students who are eager to answer questions, offer demonstrations and highlight student-generated work.

Prior to the start of the Showcase, the McKinney High School CTE Department will present a “Pre-Showcase” Tour from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. for MISD 8th graders who will attend McKinney High School next year. The tour will give next year’s freshman a sneak peek at some of the exciting and challenging CTE opportunities that await them. The following programs will be featured:

  •  Engineering
  •  Robotics
  •  Architecture and Construction
  •  Agriculture

The Pre-Showcase Tour will give 8th graders access to classrooms, labs, shops and the Ag barn -- and a chance to see and experience what each course has to offer.

Bus transportation will be available from Evans Middle School to McKinney High School immediately after dismissal on Wednesday (sponsored and paid for by the Evans Engineering Club). However, bus transportation will not be provided back to Evans Middle School after the Showcase. Parents of 8th graders at other campuses should make plans to have their child at McKinney High School in time for the first tour rotation at 4:05 p.m.

All Eighth graders attending the tour need to complete a permission form and submit it to a CTE teacher on their campus.
