Hope Rising is thrilled to support Ashleigh’s Patience Project with a benefit performance of “My First Time” written by Ken Davenport for Domestic Violence Awareness Month on October 27that Theater Too! in Dallas.  This play of episodic stories, some hysterical and a few heartbreaking about first sexual experiences submitted to a real website by real people, stars Polly Harrison, Robin Coulonge, Phillip Slay and Jon Beller and directed by Pamela Harden.  “My First Time” promises to have you laughing and reminiscing about your own First Time.

All proceeds from this performance will benefit Ashleigh’s Patience Project, which strives to raise awareness about Domestic Violence.  After the loss of her daughter, a victim of Domestic Violence in 2012, Tara Woodlee strives to strengthen laws and penalties for perpetrators of domestic violence thru contacting legislators and speaking to committees to name just a few.  Ashleigh’s Patience Project also works to educate youth about the dangers of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and supports other organizations groups and shelters.  Please learn more about Ashleigh’s Patience Project at www.AshleighsPatienceProject.com.

In 1998 a decade before blogging began, a website was created that allowed people to anonymously share their own true stores about their First Times. The website became an instant phenomenon as over 40,000 stories poured in from around the globe that were silly, sweet, absurd, funny, heterosexual, homosexual, awkward, shy, sexy and everything in between.  And now these true stories and all the unique characters in them are brought to life in this acclaimed 90-minute play.  Presented by Ken Davenport, producer of “Altar Boyz” and creator of “The Awesome 80s Prom”, “My First Time” ran off-Broadway from 2007 to 2010 and has since had performances world wide.   Experiences submitted by the audience before the show will add a touch of hilarity to the production, but we promise no names will be added.  You can learn more about My First Time the Play at www.MyFirstTimeThePlay.com.

Hope Rising continues their mission of raising awareness about Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault through Art with their second production of 2018. Since forming in 2013 they have raised over $45,000 for victims services in and around Collin County.  Hope Rising’s all volunteer projects include everything from Flashmobs to Band Concerts and more.  You can learn more about Hope Rising at www.HopeRisingTX.org or look for them on Facebook.
