Pablo Ruiz Running for McKinney City Council District 4

McKinney - Pablo Ruiz is pleased to announce his candidacy for the office of McKinney City Council, District 4.

Pablo is a Texas native and a 21-year resident of McKinney. He attended The United States Military Academy at West Point and served in the United States Army with combat deployments. His extensive professional and public experience includes 17 years at Texas Instruments, where he is currently Facilities Engineering Manager, and more than 18 years of public service.

Pablo currently serves on the McKinney Economic Development Corporation's Board of Directors and the Stonebridge Ranch Community Association’s (SRCA) Landscape and Grounds Committee. His past service includes the McKinney Building and Standards Commission and the SRCA Board of Directors, including 4 years as President. While President, Pablo guided the Association through a transition from a developer controlled to homeowner controlled. His leadership style, emphasizing fiscal responsibility and informed, open decision making, contributed to the SRCA more than doubling its reserve assets, while assessments increased by less than 2% over a 5-year period.

When asked about the issues facing McKinney and his plans on how to address them if elected, Pablo replied; “McKinney needs more local businesses that offer high paying jobs, so residents can work closer to home. These businesses will help boost the commercial tax base and reduce the burden on residential homeowners. The City needs a net positive, business cash flow, and to accomplish this, we also need these businesses to attract money from outside McKinney and invest it locally. This relationship fuels future business development and supports the high quality of life residents here have come to expect.”

“Creativity is required to address the ever-present water shortages. McKinney’s extraterritorial jurisdiction is capable of doubling the population of the city and we need to find ways to continue to conserve locally and find arrangements with the North Texas Municipal Water District that promote conservation of this limited and precious resource.”

“McKinney needs to continue its efforts to create, operate and maintain quality of life infrastructure. Our police and fire departments, roads, lighting, and water quality; the parks, trails, libraries, pools, aquatic centers, sports fields and the historic downtown area; these elements are what earned McKinney the designation of #1 Best Places to Live in America. To maintain this status requires vigilance and a commitment to constant improvement.”

Beyond his professional and civic involvements, Pablo is a dedicated husband and father and an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.  Pablo has been married to his wife, Linzee for 21 years and has 2 children. He volunteers with his son’s Cub Scout Pack as a Troop committee member. As a member of the PIT crew, he supports the McKinney North High School Band, in which his daughter plays tuba. Over the past 20 years, he has served his church as a greeter, youth bible study leader, construction committee member, praise team member and hand bell choir member. His commitment to family, country and community, guided by strong ethical and moral principles, is his driving motivation.

Early voting begins April 27, 2015. Election day is Saturday, May 9, 2015. You can learn more about Pablo Ruiz and his campaign by visiting www.pabloruizdistrict4.com or like his Facebook site “Pablo Ruiz for McKinney District 4”.
