Be Holiday Smart will be held on November 13, at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, Building C, 17360 Coit Road, Dallas. This facility is located between the Bush Turnpike and Campbell Road at the intersection of Coit and McCallum Blvd.  Registration, silent auction, refreshments and raffle for a handmade quilted throw will begin at 9:15 a.m. with speakers starting at 10 a.m.  One pound bags of pecans (halves or pieces) will also be for sale; $9 per pound bag for pieces and $10 per pound bag for halves.  The event concludes at 11:45 a.m.  Speakers will show unique ways to repurpose photo frames for favorite photos and how to make a simple zippered bag. Both are quick and easy and perfect for gift giving.  Participants will receive a handout with these instructions along with several holiday recipes. Door tickets are $5 and raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  Proceeds provide youth and adult educational scholarships and supplies to make comfort pillows for cancer patients and lap robes for seniors.  This annual event is sponsored by the Collin County Extension Education Association.
