Thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous grant-maker and individual donors, high school and middle school students will get to see McKinney Repertory Theatre's production of Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express" for free!  Agatha Christie is the queen of detective fiction and teaches students foreshadowing, symbolism, deductive reasoning, attention to detail, and patience.  Seeing one of her murder mysteries performed in a live theatrical setting encourages and develops empathy, problem-solving, analytical skills, and a greater sense of right and wrong.  Theatrical performances of classic literature teach students how to enjoy literature on many different levels, get more out of reading, and sparks the imagination. MRT is proud to be piloting this free student ticket program for productions of literary classics.

McKinney Repertory Theatre's production of “Murder on the Orient Express” will be at McKinney Performing Arts Center from July 28-29, August 4-5, and August 11-12, 2023. The MRT production is being directed by Lindsey Humphries with Marilyn Latham supporting as assistant director.  The story begins after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again. This clever adaptation by Ken Ludwig boasts all of the glamour, intrigue, and suspense of Dame Agatha’s celebrated novel. So wax your mustache and hold onto your passport for what has become the most highly-produced comedy mystery in the world.

McKinney Repertory Theatre (MRT) is a 100% volunteer, nonprofit, community theatre.  MRT is McKinney’s Official Community Theatre and is a resident company at McKinney Performing Arts Center in historic, downtown McKinney.
