Medical City McKinney, formerly Medical Center of McKinney, announced Martha Langham, RN, and Judy Heasley, a member of the volunteer auxiliary, as the recipients of the Frist Humanitarian Award, the hospital’s highest employee and volunteer award.
The Frist Humanitarian Awards were created to recognize an employee and volunteer at each HCA-affiliated facility who demonstrate extraordinary concern for the welfare and happiness of patients and their community. The Frist Humanitarian Awards are given annually in recognition of the humanitarian spirit and philanthropic work of the late Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA.
Martha Langham joined Medical City McKinney in 2010 as the director of Women’s Services and transitioned into her current role of executive director of Process Improvement in 2015. In this role Martha provides strong and positive leadership to nurses and staff throughout the hospital.
Martha’s inspiration reaches beyond the walls of the hospital and stretches across the globe. She and her husband Jack dedicate time and resources to help provide leadership skills and a solid education to boys and girls in Pakistan through the Langham School of Leadership, a school they founded and financially support. They also mentor and teach English to a family in this limited access country via Skype, and provided financial assistance so the family could move to a larger city with more employment opportunities.
Judy Heasley joined the Medical City McKinney Volunteer Auxiliary in 2013 after relocating to Texas to be near family. As a retired college foundation president, Judy utilizes her professional fundraising skills to help the Medical City McKinney volunteer auxiliary’s fundraising efforts by serving as the co-chair of the Ways and Means Committee. She also spearheads the McKinney Chapter of Philanthropic Educational Organization’s annual education scholarship fundraiser.
Judy is equally involved with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she organizes the “supper ministry” to help connect families in the church through monthly small group dinners, and leads the church’s “Angel Ministry” to help coordinate meals for families following an illness or hospitalization. She also gives her time each week to the Samaritan Inn, assembling lunches for the residents.
