Medical City McKinney has recognized Judie Iloka, RN, orthopedic services, and Beverley Mukombe, RN, behavioral health services, with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award honors the amazing work nurses do for patients and their families every day.

Iloka was recognized by a patient that said, “Judie is extraordinary! We are blown away at the quality of care she provided. She is compassionate, professional, a role model, and an advocate. She listened and encouraged us.”

Mukombe was recognized for the award by a colleague that said, “Beverley notices everything and is always helpful to others’ needs. She is always supportive to all her colleagues and is friendly to patients and staff alike. She always has a kind word.”

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by the J. Patrick Barnes family after he passed away in 1999 from complications resulting from an autoimmune disease. The care Barnes received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.  Nurses may be nominated for The DAISY award by patients, families and colleagues.
