HP POLICE BLOTTER: July 3 - 9

JULY 3

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

At approximately 1:55 PM, police officers responded to the Tory Burch Store at the Highland Park Shopping Village on a report of theft. The manager on duty stated that three unknown suspects took six items totaling more than $2,000 from the store without paying. 


JULY 5

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

Police officers responded to the 4900 block of Abbott Avenue after reports of a burglary. The victim stated that between July 4 at 5:00 PM and July 5 at 2:00 PM, an unknown person took the side mirrors off of their car without permission. 

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA/RAN STOP SIGN

At approximately 7:30 PM, police officers were sitting at the intersection of Abbott Avenue and Armstrong Avenue when they saw a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a clearly marked stop line. The police pulled the subject over and then noticed the distinct smell of marijuana coming from inside the subject's car. They searched the vehicle and found one marijuana bud. The subject was cited for the stop sign violation and drug paraphernalia but was not arrested. 


JULY 6 

BURGLARY OF BUILDING 

A police officer was dispatched to the 3700 block of Lexington Avenue in response to a reported burglary. A home, which is currently under construction, was burglarized between 7:00 PM on July 5 and 8:00 AM on July 6. The construction foreman noticed something was wrong and conducted an inventory to find several items missing. 

CREDIT/DEBIT CARD ABUSE 

At approximately 9:00 AM, an officer was dispatched to the lobby of 4700 Drexel Drive in response to a reported incident of credit/debit card abuse. The victim stated that someone had made a charge without his permission on his American Express card, which was given to him by his company. The charge was for more than $6,000. 

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

Two police officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Potomac Avenue on a report of theft. The officers spoke to the victim, who stated that an unknown suspect took her son's bicycle from her house's front porch without permission. The bike was last seen at 11:30 PM on July 5 and was noticed missing at approximately 10:00 AM the next morning. 


JULY 7 

BURGLARY OF VEHICLE 

At approximately 4:25 PM, police responded to the 3600 block of Normandy to meet with a victim of burglary. The victim stated that he brought a crew to do lawn work and they parked their truck outside of the residence on the street. When the crew returned from working in the back yard, they discovered that some lawn equipment had been taken without permission from the truck. 


JULY 9 
DAMAGE TO TOWN PROPERTY 

At approximately 12:30 AM, two police officers were traveling Eastbound on 4600 Mockingbird Lane when they observed a car positioned sideways in the 5400 block of Eastern Avenue. It appeared to have been in a crash. Police officers responded to the scene. The passenger admitted that he had been drinking and that the driver had been the "designated driver." The driver admitted to having approximately 2-3 beers previously at a wedding the two had attended. The car had crashed into a gray concrete pylon sticking out of the ground. The vehicle was not in driving condition, and both men were released.
