THEFT OF PROPERTY

At approximately 2:59 PM, an officer responded to the 4600 block of Edmondson to meet with a victim who claimed to have been scammed. The victim stated that he was shopping at a Home Depot when a Hispanic man came to him, saying he was a handyman looking for work. The victim stated that he needed some brickwork done and set up a meeting at his residence the next morning. The subject showed up to examine the damaged bricks, then asked the victim to go inside so he could write up a repair reposal. While he was writing out the proposal, he asked the victim to go back outside and count the exact number of bricks with damage. Once the subject left, the victim realized that nearly $300 had been taken from his wallet. He believes that the subject may have stolen the cash while he was outside. He turned the man's business card over to the police.

FEBRUARY 18

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE

An officer was dispatched to the 4700 block of Bowser Avenue at approximately 3:00 PM for a reported BMV. The victim stated that between 11:00 PM the night before and 6:00 AM the next morning, an unknown person had pulled the locked back hatch window of her vehicle up and entered the car without permission. Her son's lacrosse equipment was taken from the back cargo area and the third-row seat's locking mechanism appeared to have been tampered with. The rainy weather made it impossible to obtain fingerprints.
