Honor Flight DFW recently set a goal to raise $200,000 by Veterans Day 2018 to help fund four Honor Flights in 2019, taking approximately 170 veterans on what has been described as a “trip of a lifetime” to Washington, D.C.  Once there, they will have the unforgettable opportunity to visit the memorials built in their honor during their two-day stay.

Honor Flight DFW is planning several fundraisers to reach this goal, including a golf tournament in October at The Tribute in The Colony. All fundraiser details will be posted on www.honorflightdfw.org in the coming months.

Each veteran’s trip costs around $1,100 at no cost to them. Instead, each trip is made possible through the generous efforts of local volunteers and the financial support of the community. With more than 200 local veterans on the waiting list, each veteran is selected through careful consideration, based on certain criteria such as the war era in which they served, health of the veteran, and date that application is received. So far, Honor Flight DFW has provided approximately 1,700 local World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans with this unforgettable experience.
