This Year's Musical Events at the State Fair

In just over two weeks, the famous State Fair of Texas will open its doors on September 28. People from all over the state (and from neighboring states) will flock to the array of fried food, carnival rides and live musical performances.

Speaking of music, let's take a look at the talented performers that will grace the Chevrolet Main Stage over the course of the fair. The concerts are free as long as you have an admission ticket to the fair, so plan your visit around your favorite bands and singers. 

September 28 - Kraig Parker 

Channeling the energy and talent of Elvis Presley, Kraig Parker will pay tribute to the King of Rock & Roll on Opening Day at 8:30 PM. Parker's powerful performance and talent will have you believing that Elvis truly hasn't left the building yet. 

September 29 - Sevyn Streeter + Morris Day & The Time 

At 2:00 PM, singer-songwriter Sevyn Streeter will wow the audience with her R&B hits. Even if you haven't heard of her, you probably know some of the Chris Brown songs she's written, as well as her work on Alicia Key's album Girl on Fire. Then, at 8:30 PM, legendary Funk band Morris Day & The Time from the '80s will entertain with songs like "Jerk Out" and "Jungle Love." 

September 30 - Michael Salgado

Two-time Latin Grammy winner Michael Salgado will appear on stage at 5:30 PM, then regale the crowd with his hit Latin American music like "Cruz de Madera" and "Sin Ella." Based in San Antonio, this Norteño/Tejano musician will make your night memorable. 

October 5 - Journey Tribute Band Resurrection 

In honor of "Flashback Friday," Resurrection will perform at both 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM. They're one of the most highly-sought after Journey cover bands in the country, and you'll know why as soon as you witness their sound and authenticity. 

October 6 - Aaron Watson

At 8:30 PM, this country music star will reveal why he's performed at more than 2,500 shows in America and overseas. His songs like "Outta Style" and "That Look" will have you two-stepping your way across the fairgrounds. 

October 7 - Austin Mahone 

Even though he's only 22 years old, Austin Mahone has already established a name for himself in the world of music. Plenty of "Mahomies" (his fan group) will be flocking to the stage this Sunday evening, so be prepared. 

October 12 - The Molly Ringwalds 

This '80s band brings another blast to the past with a funky style and undeniable talent. They'll perform at both 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM, so feel free to stop by the stage whenever you get a chance. 

October 13 - Ludacris 

Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is well-known for his talent. With three Grammy awards and 17 nominations, it'd be impossible not to know how renowned he is. You can be sure that many fans will turn up to support this hip-hop icon on Saturday night. 

October 14 - Hunter Hayes 

If you're a fan of country music, then you already know who Hunter Hayes is and what he has to offer. He's been wowing fans with new sounds and catchy songs for years. Check out his performance of critically acclaimed songs at 8:30 PM. 

October 19 - Bidi Bidi Banda 

Any fans of the Tejano pop star Selena Quintanilla-Pérez attending the state fair? Then drop by on this Friday at 5:30 PM or 8:30 to witness Bidi Bidi Banda offering tribute to the all-star singer. 

October 20 - Casting Crowns 

As one of the best-selling acts in Christian music for years, Casting Crowns is known for their ministry and incredible talent. All seven band members will hit the stage at 8:30 with critically-acclaimed tunes and powerful energy. 

October 21 - Banda Carnaval 

This Mexican-Latin group will close out the 2018 concert series with feisty musical entertainment. Don't miss their afternoon show at 3:00 PM if you want to dance and celebrate another successful fair season.
