DAMAGE TO PRIVATE PROPERTY - NON CRIMINAL
At 9:05 AM, two officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Potomac Avenue in response to a burglary of a vehicle. The vehicle owner stated that at 1:30 AM, she heard her dogs barking loudly outside. She put the dogs away, then woke up and prepared to leave her home at 8:30 AM. Then she noticed her vehicle's rear window had been shattered. Nothing appeared to be missing, but a crime scene investigation was conducted.
AUGUST 21
DUTY ON STRIKING UNATTENDED VEHICLE
An officer responded to the 4300 block of Versailles at 11:46 AM. There, he met with a victim who stated that his wife's vehicle was hit while parked on the street outside of their residence. This occurred while they were away on vacation between 11:00 AM on August 15 and 6:00 PM on August 22.
INFORMATION REPORT
At approximately 4:00 PM, an officer was dispatched to the HPSV on a report of a FLID. The reporting person stated that she while she was shopping, an unknown vehicle struck her vehicle. She asked the nearby stores if they had video footage of the incident, but no store was able to give her access. No information was left behind by the other driver.
AUGUST 22
THEFT OF PROPERTY
An officer responded to a retail store in the Highland Park Shopping Village at approximately 6:00 PM. A theft had occurred roughly 40 to 45 minutes prior to his arrival, and the reporting person stated that an unknown black male and female had entered the store. They began browsing, then left and stole a purse that was worth $1,500. The reporting person gave the police descriptions of the people.
AUGUST 24
THEFT OF PROPERTY
While working as a uniformed security guard at the HPSV, an officer responded to a reported theft at a nearby construction site. The reporting person stated that he stopped at the site and unloaded his tools, then went to park his truck. When he came back, he found that he was missing a Red Hilti Bandsaw.
