HP POLICE BLOTTER: July 30 - August 5

JULY 30 

ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE 

At 11:16 AM, an officer was dispatched to the intersection of Mockingbird and Lomo Alto on a report of an FLID. The victim explained that she was stopped at a red light when an unknown driver struck the rear corner of her vehicle, causing minor damage to the bumper and a red reflective lens. The other driver left the scene without giving any information. 


AUGUST 1 


THEFT OF PROPERTY 

An officer responded to a report of a BMV in the 3600 block of Gillon Avenue. The white male victim stated that he arrived at the job site and noticed a company work van had its doors open. Upon further inspection, he found that the vehicle was damaged and that it had been broken into. It appears as though the suspects attempted to pry the door handle, then shattered the window. 

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

A reporting person stated that her Tiffany and Co bracelet went missing on July 26. She was unaware that it had gone missing or been stolen, and the item was last seen on the 18th. Only two other individuals have been in the residence where the bracelet was: a housekeeper and an AC repair company. 


AUGUST 2 


DAMAGE TO TOWN PROPERTY 

At 4:05 in the morning, an officer responded to a report of a vehicle bumper in the roadway of the 3400 block of Mockingbird Lane. The bumper had been moved to the parkway upon the officer's arrival, and nearby, the officer found that a truck zone sign had sustained damage.

AUGUST 4 


THEFT OF PROPERTY

Around noon, an officer was dispatched to the 4700 block of Drexel Drive in response to a report of a stolen cellular telephone. The reporting person stated that at 1:48 AM, a phone was left in a Lyft vehicle. When the reporting person attempted to contact the Lyft driver, but he was unreachable. The company Lyft said they would try to get in contact with the driver and eventually responded saying the driver would return the phone by 10 AM. Finally, the reporting person told police the phone had been stolen since no attempt to return the phone had been made. 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE

An officer responded to the north lot of the Highland Park Village at approximately 11:07 PM. He met with a victim who stated that she had just gotten her car registered in Texas. Someone had shattered her window and gone through her belongings, looking for things to steal between 2:00 PM and 11:00 PM. 


AUGUST 5 


INFORMATION REPORT 

At 9:21 AM, an officer was dispatched to the 3500 block of Potomac Avenue in reference to a report of fraud. The reporting person stated that she was contacted in reference to a couch she was selling. The suspect stated that he would send her a check for the couch and the price of having it moved to California. The suspect then asked the seller to wire another $1,500 to him in California. The seller did so, then realized she was being scammed. 

FRAUDULENT USE OR POSSESSION OF IDENTIFYING INFO 

At approximately 1:54 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 3700 block of Mockingbird Lane. The victim stated that an unknown suspect had used her identifying information to open a Pay Pal credit card account. The victim had not authorized the account or any of the purchases made under it. 

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT 

An officer responded to an FLID that occurred earlier in the day near the Highland Park Shopping Village. The working uniformed security guard directed the police officer to a male victim, who reported that his vehicle sustained a small amount of damage on the rear passenger side bumper. He was traveling northbound on Preston Road when he stopped and was rear-ended by another vehicle. The other vehicle did not leave behind the necessary information.
