Celebrating the Fourth of July in Texas State Parks

If you're looking for a fun, family-friendly way to spend Independence Day, check out these upcoming state park events. From July 30 to July 4, various parks throughout the state will be hosting exciting activities. Find one near you and join in the patriotic celebrations! 

Nature Craft-ivities (June 30) 
Lake Livingston State Park - 3 to 4 Hours From the DFW Area 

This park will be hosting an educational series with plenty of games, activities, and crafts for kids of all ages. Drop by with your little ones to make some patriotic art projects and ring in the holiday with others. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to check out the park's 635 acres, the awesome trails, and views of Lake Livingston. 

Red, White, & Blue 5K (June 30) 
Daingerfield State Park - 2 to 3 Hours From the DFW Area 

Head to the southwest part of Texarkana to visit this recreational area if you want to participate in a patriotic run, open to athletes of all levels and ages. You'll check in at 6:30 AM and have one hour to finish the run. To register, check out this link

4th of July Dutch Oven Cook-Off (June 30) 
Daingerfield State Park - 2 to 3 Hours From the DFW Area 

Think you've got what it takes to compete in this event? Then sign up by 8:30 AM on Saturday, June 30, to show off your skills in this dutch oven cook-off. Trophies will be awarded in three categories: Main Dish, Desser, and 18 and Under. All submissions will be judged on presentation, creativity, taste, and overall impression. After all, what better way is there to celebrate the patriotic holiday than with yummy food and good-natured competition? 

Kids Big Fish Contest (June 30) 
Daingerfield State Park - 2 to 3 Hours From the DFW Area 

If you're willing to make the drive to Daingerfield, then your children can check in at 9:30 AM and fish for a couple of hours, then see who caught the biggest one. There will also be other activities in the park's celebration, including a scavenger hunt, displays, and live music in the evening. Stop by to make some great holiday memories and spend time with nature and friends. 

Independence Day Bike Parade (July 4) 
Inks Lake State Park - 3 to 4 Hours From the DFW Area 

From 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on the Fourth, you can show up at Inks Lake State Park and participate in a leisurely ride through the beautiful area. Everyone will decorate their bikes with patriotic streamers, ribbons, and festive pieces, so bring your camera and snap some pics of this unique holiday event.
