APRIL 16

ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE 

At about 10:34 AM, an officer was dispatched to the 4300 block of Westside in reference to an accident. The witness called the police department and stated that an 18-wheeler was driving south on Westside and hit a low-hanging tree, causing the tree to lose a branch and hit two parked cars underneath it. 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

A BMV occurred in the 3500 block of St. John's. It was witnessed by a twelve-year-old boy, who told his mother. The mother then reported it to the police. The boy had witnessed two black men and one black woman taking items from the back of a box truck that belonged to some lawn workers. The lawn workers stated that two blowers were taken without permission. 

INFORMATION REPORT 

A police offer went to check out an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Preston Road. The keys were missing from the vehicle so it could not be put into gear and pushed out of the flow of traffic. The police attempted to contact the possible owner, but she did not answer her phone. The abandoned vehicle was then towed. As it was being towed, a man ran into the intersection and claimed to be the car's owner. He had run out of fuel and left to get some. The vehicle was still impounded, even though the driver made efforts to climb onto the tow truck and enter the vehicle. 


APRIL 17 

ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE 

At approximately 3:49 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 4500 block of Mockingbird Lane. There he observed a black vehicle occupied by one person, who stated that another driver had rear-ended her and then fled without exchanging information. The victim was unable to obtain the other driver's license plate. 


APRIL 18 

FOUND PROPERTY 

An officer was dispatched to the alley behind the 3600 block of Mockingbird Lane on a found backpack that contained marijuana. The reporting person stated that his wife had found the backpack in their trash can. The scale and drugs were logged into police evidence. 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

An officer was dispatched to the 4500 block of Versailles Avenue on a report of a theft of two backpack blowers. The victim stated that he had been working on the side of a house trimming hedges at approximately 12:20 PM when he discovered that some unknown person had removed the blowers from the back of his truck without permission. 

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

An officer met with a victim who wanted to report a theft of house building materials from his future residence in the 3300 block of Princeton Avenue. He stated that the last time he saw the materials was on April 9 at 10:00 AM, and he noticed they were gone on April 13. Plumbing fixtures, garage door motors, and indoor door hardware were all taken. 

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

At approximately 2:45 PM, an officer was working off-duty at the Highland Park Shopping Village when he was made aware of a larceny-theft that occurred at the Market Boutique. The manager advised that an unknown female had entered the store and taken four purses into the dressing room, then left without purchasing anything. When the dressing room was checked, only three purses were found. The store's surveillance footage was reviewed and an image of the suspect was identified. 

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT 

A woman reported a hit and run to the police. She said she was stopped facing eastbound at the red light in the 4100 block of Armstrong Avenue when a vehicle struck her from behind. She followed the other driver into an apartment complex, but the other driver then fled the scene. There was minor rear-end damage to her vehicle. 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 

While on a routine patrol at 11:53 PM, an officer observed a vehicle legally parked in the 5700 block of Fairfield Avenue. A bag of golf clubs in the vehicle and the back-row seats appeared to have been disturbed. Fingerprints were seen inside of the window. The vehicle's owner was contacted and he checked the vehicle and found nothing missing. The finger and palm prints were booked into evidence. 


APRIL 19 

FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT 

At approximately 6:40 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive in regards to a FLID. The victim stated that he had parked her car in the 4800 block of Bower at approximately 5:00 PM. When she returned, she found that the rear bumper and tail light had been damaged. No information was left behind by the other driver. 

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE 

An officer was dispatched to the Whole Foods Market on Lomo Alto Drive on a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that at 3:00 PM, he had arrived at work and parked his vehicle in the parking lot. When he returned after his shift, he found that the back window was open and his third-row seat had been taken.
