Although the Fourth won't be here until next week, it's not too early to finalize your celebratory plans. You may even want to attend a few firework shows and community festivities over the weekend. That's why we asked all of our readers to tell us about their favorite holiday events to attend. Here are some of the most popular (and impressive) firework shows you can catch in the DFW area. Saturday, June 30
Market Street Allen USA Celebration
Although this show is a bit earlier than some of the others, Allen takes pride in being "First to the Fourth." Get in the mood to celebrate with kid-friendly play zones, food stands, games, live music, magic shows, acrobatic performances and so much more. The best part? Admission is totally free. Show up by about 4 PM to get a good seat, then stick around until the fireworks start at 10 PM.
Party in the Park - Coppell
The City of Coppell is giving you two opportunities to show your patriotic pride and celebrate. On Saturday, stake out a spot at Andrew Brown Park for some food, fun, music, and of course, firework displays. The nighttime firework spectacular will begin at about 9:30 PM and admission is free for people of all ages. Then, on the morning of July 4, head to Samuel Boulevard to catch the city's annual Celebrate Coppell: Parade Down Parkway.
Tuesday, July 3
Kaboom Town - Addison
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've undoubtedly heard people rave about this nationally-recognized fireworks show. Kaboom Town has been taking place for more than thirty years and has acquired quite the loyal (and large) following. Gates to the enormous event open at 4 PM and the attractions in the sky begin at 9:30 PM. Prepare to battle crowds, but also to witness one of the most incredible firework displays in the area. Red White & Boom on the Bridge - Dallas
Presented by Mrs. Baird's, this celebration will take place on the Continental Avenue Pedestrian Bridge from 6 PM to 10 PM. There will be food, music, and fireworks that beautifully illuminate the Dallas skyline. Admission is free, so bring the whole family down and enjoy a few early patriotic festivities.
Stars and Stripes - Southlake Town Square
Drop by the town square between 6 PM and 11 PM for some delicious grub, craft tables, games, drinks and live music. Then, stay for the firework show that incorporates tons of fun music and light. Also, The Southlake Community Band will be kicking off the evening with a special performance, so it might be smart to drop by right as the night begins. Admission is free for both adults and children.
Lone Stars and Stripes Celebration - Grand Prairie
On both July 3 and July 4, you can catch musical performances, races, bounce houses, tattoo artists, petting zoo attractions, pony rides, and so much more at the Grandstand. The gates open at 3 PM and the first Live Race is at 5 PM, and each evening will be concluded with a firework display set to music. If you want to purchase tickets in advance, you can snag them for $10, but general event day admission is $20 per person.
Wednesday, July 4
Dallas Country Club
Although this show is technically only open to the country club's members, you can find spots to watch it at the Highland Park Village or along Beverly Drive. The nighttime show will begin as soon as the sun goes down, so grab a spot with plenty of time to spare.
Fourth of July Extravaganza - Grapevine
For the 36th year in a row, Grapevine will celebrate Independence Day with a huge firework show. The lights will illuminate the sky starting at 9:30 PM, so find a good viewing point well before then. The organizers have provided a list of suggested viewing areas on their website. Keep in mind that some of the locations are free while others charge an admission fee.
Red, White and Boom! - McKinney
If you're on the hunt for free family activities and entertainment in the McKinney area, look no further. This celebration will showcase everything from a morning parade to an impressive fireworks display. To examine the full schedule and various locations of the festivities, check out this website. The firework portion of the day will take place at 9:45 PM at Craig Ranch.
Freedom Fest - Frisco
With fantastic attractions like dachshund races, rock climbing, bounce houses, music and tons more, it's no wonder that people are planning to flock to this Frisco event. Admission to the celebration is free, although some of the children's activities come with a small price. Fireworks will start at approximately 10 PM and should be visible from various areas around the Toyota Stadium.
Plano's All American Fourth Fireworks
Park the car at Collin College, Plano Event Center or United Methodist Church, then walk to the big celebration at Oak Point Park. You can grab dinner from various food trucks starting at 5 PM, then enjoy a pre-fireworks music performance with a live DJ. At 9:30 PM, a stupendous pyrotechnic show that's set to music will light up the sky. If you want to reserve a great seat, be sure to arrive well ahead of the actual firework show.
Family 4th Celebration - Breckinridge Park in Richardson
This traditional event is open to the entire community and completely free. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks, then settle in for an evening under a brightly-lit sky. There will also be live performances by Don't Tell Mama Band and the Richardson Community Band. Fireworks are scheduled to being at 9:30 PM. Don't forget to bring the kids so they can check out all of the bounce houses, a climbing wall and festive snacks.
4th of July in Denton
There will be holiday events scattered throughout the city on this special day, but the best part is the firework conclusion at the UNT Apogee Stadium. There will be live music, concessions available for purchase and a children's activity area. Admission is free, but there a $10 parking fee outside the stadium.
Independence Day Fireworks Show - Lake Carolyn in Irving
What better place is there to spend the 4th than by the lake? Plus, this festive event comes with live music, inflatable rides, airbrush tattoos, and lots more. Bring your swimsuit and some blankets to sit on, then stick around for firework finale at 9:30 PM. For the first time ever, the fireworks will actually be launched from a barge in the middle of the lake, so this will truly be one of the most unique firework shows in the area.
Star-Spangled Spectacular - Firewheel Town Center in Garland
Your entire family can attend this event for free from 4 PM to 9:15 PM. Check out the main stage entertainment starting at 7 PM, but before then, feel free to check out all of the planned attractions and shops at Firewheel. If you don't want to deal with the hassle of parking a car in the crowded parking lot, take the DART to the event. The firework show will light up the sky at about 9:15 PM, so be sure you're ready to grab a good viewing spot in advance.
Bedford 4thFEST Independence Day Celebration
There's a whole lot of fun going down at Boys Ranch Park on Independence Day. Starting at noon, you can pay for adults or kids to check out the Splash Aquatic Center. Then, starting at 4 PM, there will be a food court, InflataFUN area and children's activity area. Stick around until at least 5 PM when the live music starts, and if you have the time, check out the D&D Rockin' Rods Car Show. Last but not least is the 10 PM fireworks extravaganza. What more could you want from a Fourth of July celebration?
