THEFT OF PROPERTY
At 3:00 PM, a victim exited a Whole Foods with a grocery cart containing her purchases and small child. When she reached her car, she opened the rear hatch and went to buckle her child in. The cart was momentarily left unattended, with her purse inside. An unknown vehicle drove up to the cart and the driver leaned out the window, grabbed the purse, then sped away.
FAILURE TO LEAVE ID AT ACCIDENT
At approximately 5:33 PM, an officer was dispatched to the parking lot in the 4800 block of Lemmon Avenue to investigate a possible FLID. The victim stated that she returned to her vehicle to find damage. She watched the security camera footage from a store nearby and witnessed another vehicle backing into her car, then fleeing.
SEPTEMBER 27
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
An officer was called to the 3500 block of Cornell by another officer, who found an open door on a vehicle with property spilled into the street. The glove box was also open. The vehicle's owner was contacted, and he stated that an unknown suspect must have entered his vehicle without permission between midnight and 3:00 AM.
DAMAGE TO TOWN PROPERTY
At approximately 2:15 PM, an officer was dispatched on a damage to town property call. The reporting person stated that he arrived at the tennis courts at Abbott Park to perform a quality check after some construction. He then found damage that had not previously been present.
INFORMATION REPORT
An officer was flagged down regarding a lost cell phone at approximately 2:18 PM. The reporting person stated he was listening to music while driving his motorcycle when he realized his phone had fallen out of his pocket. He attempted to locate the phone and could not find it.
SEPTEMBER 28
THEFT OF PROPERTY
At approximately 11:28 AM, an officer was dispatched to the 4300 block of Lorraine Avenue to take a report of a stolen tailgate. The victim stated that an unknown suspect removed the rear tailgate without consent while the vehicle was legally parked in front of his house overnight.
BURGLARY OF VEHICLE
At 2:00 PM, an officer responded to a call from the 3900 block of Normandy Avenue. The victim stated that his vehicle had been burglarized between 11:00 PM on September 26 and 1:00 PM the next day. It was parked in front of his parents residence when the taillights and a few boxes of ammunition were stolen.
BURGLARY OF VEHICLE
An officer was dispatched to the 3700 block of Shenandoah Avenue at 9:39 PM. The victim stated that his vehicle had been burglarized between 11:00 PM on September 27 and 7:00 AM the next morning. It seems the burglars tried to remove the rear seats and failed, but took the radio.
SEPTEMBER 29
BURGLARY OF VEHICLE
At approximately 8:45 AM, an officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Normandy Avenue on the report of a burglary of a motor vehicle. The victim stated between 7:00 AM on September 27 and 7:00 AM on September 28, someone entered their vehicle and removed the stereo without permission.
INFORMATION REPORT
An officer was working at the HPSV as a uniformed security officer when another officer informed them that a vehicle was parked near the exit on the 5400 block of Douglas Avenue. The officer found a vehicle parked with the front end obstructing traffic and blocking the exit. No one claimed knowledge of the vehicle and they were not able to contact an owner, so the vehicle was impounded.
SEPTEMBER 30
THEFT OF PROPERTY
An officer initiated an investigation in the 5400 block of Byron Avenue at approximately 1:40 AM. A golf cart was driving around playing loud music. It was occupied by three adolescent girls and driven by the father of one of the girls. After finishing the investigation, the officer then noticed a minivan parked in an alley with the headlights on. It was unoccupied and running. The officer found the owner's name and contacted them, and they stated that the car should not have been used or moved from her residence on Mockingbird by anyone else.
THEFT OF PROPERTY
At approximately 11:30 AM, an officer was dispatched to the 4200 block of Fairfax Avenue for a reported theft of jewelry. The victim stated that she moved from her previous residence at the beginning of June with her family. After the move, all of her jewelry was accounted for. On September 28, she realized that some of the jewelry was missing, but not all of it. She said many contractors have been in and out of the house recently, but she believes the painter may be a possible suspect.
