The weather in Texas seems to change by the day...well, sometimes by the minute!  Eventually, it will get cold and stay cold for a couple of months. When a vehicle breaks down, it's not a good day. When it breaks down in the cold, it's even worse!  Here are a few tips to make sure your vehilce is running in prime condition during the Winter months.

1. Allow your vehicle to warm up:  This falls in the category of things you need to hear instead of want to here.  It's best to set your alarm a few minutes early in the morning to allow for time to warm up your vehicle before your morning commute. This allows your vehicle's fluids to get moving on a cold day. It's basically like letting our bodies warm up before execersing.

2. Check your fluid:  As it gets colder, be sure that your antifreeze is up to date.  Also be sure you're keeping up with oil changes.  Our vehicle's fluids are vital to a properly functioning engine so these checks are necessary to make sure your car or truck can endure the cold.  Even though we're in Texas, temperature can drop in a hurry.  It's best to have this done BEFORE the extremely cold weather arrives.

3. Have your a/c checked:  You may be thinking, "check the a/c? in the winter?" It's imperative that your a/c is working properly in the Winter because it allows your vehicle to reduce the amount of moisture inside when you turn your heat on. This is why your a/c light comes on when you defrost your vehicle.

We don't experience much of a Winter here in McKinney, however, it does get cold enough to take some proactive steps to care for your vehicle.  Please do not wait until it's freezing cold to take action.  Please schedule an appointment with a shop you trust.  To contact us for an appointment, please call us at 972-978-8797.  We look forward to keeping you safe and warm this Winter!

Thanks to all of our loyal customers and a steady stream of referrals, we've continued to grow our business. We truly appreciate it! As we continue to service more customers, we continue to grow our service team as well.  Most people in the McKinney area are familiar with Joe Yannessa, our owner, but we have some other amazing techincians as well. We want you to get to know Kevin Grossman, one of our techs that is here to serve our customers.

Kevin has been with us for over a year and has over 27 years of experience in auto repair/maintenance. One skill that sets Kevin apart from other technicians is that he is ASE certified. This is basically the seal of excellence in the auto industry.  He is also European certified on tools and equipment so it doesn't matter if your vehicle is foreign or domestic, Kevin can get it back on the road (this goes for other techs as well).

Not only is kevin skilled under the hood, but he is also a family man.  He moved to Texas from Illinois, is married to his lovely wife, Candace, and they have 5 kids (3 girls and 2 boys).  Along with his love for family and cars, Kevin also enjoys horses and dogs.  His advice to drivers out there is to keep up with preventative maintenance. He says that time and time again, he sees people having to spend thousands of dollars because they did not keep up with routine services like fluid checks and oil changes, etc.  His philosophy is to spend a little money now to save a lot of money later.

The next time you're in the shop, give Kevin a wave, a "hello", and your keys! He'll take it from there!

Most people know us as the one-stop solution to all of their auto repair and maintenance needs, but we also help with vehicle enhancements.  One area of our shop that has been extremely popular lately has been our Jeep lift division.  We can do custom lifts and work on Jeeps to turn them into BEASTS!  There are however, some factors to consider when thinking about getting a lift so here are some tips to guide you through the process.

1. Budget:  Before considering a Jeep lift or enhancement, it's best to consider the budget in which you can work with.  Sometimes what we want does not match up with what we can afford.  Knowing the budget on what you can invest can help us put together the perfect kit for you or at least give you a goal to save for if your dream lift kit is out of reach.

2. How Your Jeep will be used: The next step in the decision-making process of how your Jeep will be used primarily. Will it be your "everyday" form of transportation or a secondary vehicle that you use just for fun?  This will factor to in to what lift will be best for your Jeep as tires, gas mileage etc. will have to be considered.

3. Lift Choice:  There are so many lifts to choose from that it's best to narrow it down to a few options.  From there, budget can dictate what lift is best. Also it's best to research a few types and brands and see which one fits your style.  We are more than happy to have a consultation with you if you're interested in a lift, but don't know exactly where to start.  Not every lift is created equal and we determine which one is best for you and your jeep.

We love taking care of oil changes, auto repairs and routine maintenance, but we also enjoy transforming Jeeps into complete MONSTERS!  If you know someone that is considering a Jeep lift, please share this with them and let them know we can help!

What a fun time of year!  School is getting out, pools are filling up and families are starting to go on vacation.  With most people trying to save as much money as possible, many are opting to drive instead of fly when traveling to their destinations.  Many prefer this option to take their time and see the country.  To ensure that vehicles can endure the trip, here are some tips on what to do before you leave to make sure that your summer trip goes smoothly.

1. Tires:  Be sure to have your tires inspected and rotated before going on long trips.  There’s nothing worse than a flat tire or blowout when on an interstate.  Especially outside of city limits.

2. Fluids: As we transition from Spring to Summer, it’s best to have all of the vehicle’s fluids checked.  From oil and transmission fluid to windshield wiper fluid, be sure to have a professional check the levels and quality so you have a safe trip without breaking down.

3. Suspension/Alignment:  Driving long distances with a car out of alignment can do serious damage to your vehicle. It can also put unnecessary stress on your tires.  Be sure to have this checked out before taking off.

4. Roadside Assistance:  Even if you have your vehicle checked out and everything looks good, issues can still happen.  Flat tires or running out of gas can leave you and your family stranded so it’s a good idea to make sure you have roadside assistance before going on vacation.  This is typically very inexpensive and worth every penny.

Summer is a great time of year when it comes to vacation and we hope these tips ensure that you and your family have a great and safe time if you decide to travel by road.  Have a great summer!!

Summer is right around the corner, which means gas prices are probably going up.  This is something we cannot control as drivers, but we can control our fuel efficiency.  Here are some tips on how to make your vehicle run smoother and save money on gas in the process.

1. Tires: One of the easiest and cheapest things we can do to help with fuel efficiency is check our tire pressure routinely.  When we keep our tires inflated to the right pressure, we are safer and our tires will last longer too.

2. Idling too long: Idling (sitting at stop lights etc.) is terrible for our engines.  One place we see unnecessary idling is at drive thru restaurants and coffee shops. Waiting in those long lines is brutal for our vehicles and affects our gas mileage.  It may not be what people want to hear, but the best solution is to park and go inside. Hey, sometimes it's faster! :)

3. Maintenance: Most people tend to be reactive instead of proactive when it comes to taking care of their vehicles. It's just human nature.  That being said, to save money on gas in the long run, it's best to keep up with routine maintenance such as oil changes, filters, and fluids.  Also, be sure to keep up mileage milestone checkup such as 30,000 miles etc.

With more and more people trying to save as much money as possible, every little bit helps.  Our gas bills are never going to fully go away, but we can take proactive steps with our vehicles to help save money on gas and make increase fuel efficiency.  Hope these tips help you and please let us know if we can help in any way.  Here are the contact details for our shop:
