Area chefs will provide plates containing a healthy twist to traditional Texas cuisine recipes while raising funds for culinary scholarships for students attending Collin College in September.

The public is invited to attend Home Cooking with a Twist – Path to Plate, 5:30-8:30 p.m., September 27th at the Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center of Collin College, Frisco, Texas.  Attendees will not only sample easy, nutritious twists to some of the most enjoyed Texas dishes but also receive a cookbook, gift bag and help ensure the success of chefs in training.

Annie Tinsley, County Extension Agent for Family and Community Health, said that this is a wonderful way to learn about the culinary expertise in Collin County, learn distinctive recipes and contribute to the success of future chefs. “Not only will the chefs teaching at Collin College be highlighted, the chefs and students of Frisco ISD will also be given the opportunity to shine,” Tinsley said.  These chefs are of cooking show challenge worthy.  Who knows?  You may be seeing a future culinary star that someday you will pay a lot to see.

While the agrarian history of Collin County is no longer the mainstay of industry for the county, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office provides programs to meet the demands of the communities of Collin County.  Among those is “Dinner Tonight, Healthy Cooking School”.

Attendance for this event is $25 per person.  To register go to and search for the event Home Cooking with a Twist.  Attendance is limited and expected to fill up quickly.
