Tommy Kang and Crystal Cho enjoyed crawfish and all the fixings during the Trinity Falls Crawfish Boil on the Rue.

Trinity Falls served up spicy crawfish for the public and a $1,500 donation for the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) during the community’s recent Crawfish Boil on the Rue event.

More than 1,500 people enjoyed 3,000 pounds of crawfish at the Cajun-inspired feast as well as traditional sides, music by Philip Brumley, a 75-foot zip line, Zorb balls, gator show and other activities.

Admission to the event was $1 per person, which was donated to the NTFB.

“The crawfish boil combined all of our favorite things — food, fun and fundraising,” said Jim Baker, general manager of Trinity Falls. “We are so pleased with the response from the public. Every dollar donated to the food bank provides three meals to local North Texas families. As a result of everyone’s generosity, 4,500 people will have food on the table.”

The crawfish boil also served as an introduction to the McKinney community’s new model home park. Additional spirits and desserts were offered at models built by Gehan Homes, Meritage Homes, Highland Homes, Ashton Woods and Perry Homes.

“Our builders really stepped up to the plate with their new models,” Baker said. “They are gorgeous, and we encourage everyone to come out and take a look.”

Visitors Maureen and Monte Andrews took a look during the event and won a “Cajun Country Adventure” package, valued at $1,200. The package includes Louisiana swamp tours, a private seafood boil, accommodations at a bed and breakfast and more.

The public will have two opportunities to attend Trinity Falls events in April during the DFW Showcase of Homes. An Earth Day event — “Springtime at Trinity Falls” — happens Saturday, April 21. “Doggie Day Camp” welcomes well-heeled pups on April 28. Both events take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Club at Trinity Falls, 7801 Trinity Falls Parkway.
