New Year's Eve is only a couple of days away, and while you whether you celebrate with a simple night on the couch or with a glass of champagne, keep yourself safe and out of legal trouble.

Remember that if you're within McKinney city limits or within 5,000 feet of any incorporated area, the possession, transportation or discharging of fireworks is illegal.  Pyrotechnics including fireworks bought from roadside vendors are prohibited.

All pyrotechnic shows are required to be approved by the Fire Marshal's office and must receive a permit.  In addition, a representative of the Fire Marshal's office must be present during all firework shows with a brush truck and two firefighters on standby prior to and after the event.

For more information regarding firework and pyrotechnic regulation, please visit the McKinney Fire Department website.

Have a safe New Year's Eve!
