Pictured: Exterior photo of the Historic Barn in Anna, TXA historic barn has found a new home at the Allen Heritage Village! Council approved a contract to disassemble, relocate, and reconstruct a historic barn from Anna, Texas, to the Allen Heritage Village for $326,600. Expenses will be drawn down from the Heritage Village project budget as approved for funding by the Allen Community Development Corporation back in 2020.

The 1,650-square-foot vintage barn was donated by Robert Young of Richardson and was at risk of being demolished after the property it sits in was sold in late 2021. It will be relocated and restored to the Allen Heritage Village by the late summer 2022. The barn is of agricultural and historical significance as its construction dates to the 1890s, making it around 130 years old. Structural load-bearing timbers supporting the barn are hand-hewn, with connections crafted without steel bolts and nails, but rather hand-carved dowels and pegs.

The historic barn serves as an integral part of the entire Heritage Village master plan, slated for completion by 2023. Located at 352 St. Mary Drive, the Allen Heritage Village celebrates the history of Allen, preserving several of Allen’s oldest remaining structures, including the Wetsel House. Learn more about the Heritage Village Restoration project
